Yesterday, I was on the way home, and near the UN, I was given a flyer by a Chinese woman. Thought it would be Falun Gong, but no, something different I hadn't heard of yet . . .
The topic is "Hunger for Peace, An Empty Plate Picnic to Protest Star Wars"
Apparantly, according to the flyer
"The US Government plans to install a radar base 50 miles outside of Prague, despite the opposition of 70% of the Czech population. Although presented as a defense system against possible attacks, the "space shield" is, for all intents and purposes, a first strike weapon, a tool for global dominance and the first step towards US militarization and control of space.
On June 22nd, thousands of people around the world will participate in a one-day hunger strike to show their solidarity with the Czech citizens and to keep pressure on the two governments to call off their plans."
ANd on the back of the flyer,
"Health and Education, No Star Wars!
If you also think if is obscene for humanity to spend so much energy, resources and money in sophisticated but useless and highly dangerout weapons, rather than resolving definitely and for everybody the problems of food, health and education, we invite you to participate in this symbolic event in all the cities of the world.
Don't eat for one day today so that you will not have to eat your own hands tomorrow"
