I read a short story by Lovecraft some time ago entitled 'The Nameless City'. It was interesting in that it was about the discovery of the ruins of a lost city somewhere in the Arabian desert. This city had been inhabited by an ancient race of sentient reptoid beings, who still survived in the vast steamy caverns far beneath the surface.;)
