David Halpin, FRCS
David Halpin is one of the UK's most remarkable 'unknown heroes'. A former Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon at Torbay Hospital & Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Hospital, David Halpin is probably best known for being one of the signatories to the letter published in both The Lancet and the Guardian (January 2004) questioning the official version of events surrounding Dr. David Kelly's alleged suicide. However, David's real passion is his long-standing concern for world affairs & aversion to social injustice; qualities which were the driving forces behind him establishing the 'Dove & Dolphin' Charity (No. 1100119), which serves to '. relieve poverty, distress and hardship among the Palestinian people and to promote the welfare of Palestinian children'.
Another speaker at the Alternative View, and one who has felt it up close what happens when war hits a nation. At least 8 times he has gone to Israel and helped as a surgeon. The shit often hits the fan there so to speak, and it has of course made a huge impact on Halpin personally, which is why he for years have been doing a lot of work trying to help the victims of the war that has been in Israel, and around it, after the UK agreed to let the Jews have Israel given back to them.
His speech really showed that he how deeply involved he is in this, and he has taken it as a personal agenda to make Brittian realise the harm that has been done to the Palestinian people after that fatefull decision. Seems to me that it is working, and although it wasnt something each english person voted for directly, then it is still something that is on the BBC these days if I am not mistaken. A reminder to what really happened, and the reaction of the nations in the world.
Some of what David Halpin has done, and still is doing actually although retired, is making people aware about what is really going on in Palestine and is still going on. He told the story of one who had gotten visum to the UK so that he could get some care from the maybe a bit more advanced medical equipment there, and to get educated. Although the visum was not renewed the last time, I bet it must have been an important experience for this young person, whos name I cannot remember right now.
David Halpin also gets alot of readers letters into national and maybe international newspapers, giving his oppinion and sharing his knowledge and experience.
David Halpin is also one of the only speakers with an education that has probably taken more than 20 years total. From what I gathered, surgeon is not something you get to be after the first year in a hospital. He gave a much more down to Earth kind of view to the event, than the other speakers. Although he probably doesnt think much about or believe in "the elite" and "the Illuminati", then his speech still gave an important angle to the other speakers. At least, it did to me.

or google him, he has been around so much that a bunch of links wouldnt do him justice. Look into it for yourself, and maybe donate a bit to it. Or even better, help out actively, because as he said himself, that would in the end be much more helpfull than a big or small was of cash. Well, he said something like that :)
