I'm getting a bit bolshie now I've been here a week and learnt how to pull of such technical feats as putting an avatar on my profile, so hopefully you don't mind me starting a thread. But when I logged onto MSN this morning I found this wonderful image staring at me...
http://estb.msn.com/i/8A/FB1362A896BE69FCBD8BA677FBD1.jpg
It was accompanied by this story entitled 'Choked Planet'...
In the few decades since mankind began exploring space, thousands of spacecraft have been launched into the cosmos.
The vast majority of these are satellites, which remain in orbit around the Earth once their lifespan is complete.
These computer-generated images released by the European Space Agency show the incredible impact of travelling to the stars, as the planet becomes increasingly choked by this man-made junk left to orbit around it.
The pictured debris is in low-Earth orbit. There is even more orbiting further out.
I draw your attention to the phrase "since mankind began exploring space".
How many members of 'mankind' actually chose for this to happen to our planet? This wasn't decided by us. I agree that space exploration is intriguing, we all want more information, but this??
The 'money' that has been spent on this doesn't really exist - 'they' created it. What has been spent is our planetary resources and man power.
They've been 'spent' on something which will ultimately destroy us. Of course this is of no concern to them, we are of no concern to them.
Our planet cries out to us from beneath for help whilst we are taught to patiently pray to the skies and wait for 'divine intervention'.
We don't have time for that. It's up to us. We are the God we've been waiting for, and we need to start believing in ourselves quick - whilst we still have a home to fight for.
Big Hugs to Everyone
