Something close to home (for me):
 Why did the British try SO hard, to eradicate and change the history of the Tasmanian Aborigines (Tasorigines)?
The genetic debate is ongoing today. After all, these people lived in a special isolation for 10,000 years, relative peace for 10,000 years, and the lads carried round the SAME fire, for 10,000 years!
I understand that the Dutch took some of the genetics, whilst the British adopted "The Black War" approach, apparently wiping out the true Tasoriginal genetics. They then took a small number and intermixed their genes with Mainland Aboriginals (and that of the terrible "Sealers" legacy).
It may not interest anyone, but I feel that Tasmanian Aboriginal genetics, and Tasmania itself has an important role to play in history....

I was very distressed to find that the skeleton of the last Tasmanian Aborigine, Truganini, was seized by the authorities. It was displayed in a museum until 1976, a hundred years after her death. Her jewlery was taken to England and displayed in Exeter. It reminds me of the terrible story Credo Mutwa told us about the African jewelery and artwork stored in that British Museum warehouse.
Happily Truganini's body and belongings have been returned to her people and they've given her a proper funeral at last.

that story reminds me of the story of the "Hottentot Venus", Saartje Baartman, her skeleton, preserved genitals(!) and brain were put on display in a musuem in france.

I know next to nothing about the aborigines of Tasmania, but ever since we read about it in school (not much) Ive been facinated by the place, it feels as if I have a special connection with it somehow.
I even had plans of moving there when I was younger!
Someone said in an other thread they felt the same about egypt!
I would really like to know more about the aborigines there anyone have a good link?
Thanks

As it turns out, the testing in England is critical to a local Tribal/Political issue, and perhaps greater. You see a couple of years back, Tasoriginal descendants were given the power to setup and run the Tasmania Aboriginal Council (or Centre i think), the TAC.
The TAC (and Government Laws) allowed around 15,000 descendants of Tasmanian Aboriginal people, to gain status as Tasmanian Aboriginals and claim back certain special Aboriginal land areas within the state.
This was all fine, the 2 main tribes of Tasmania were united in the war for recognition, and having access to various government funding etc. etc.
Over recent years however, there has been a divide between the tribes. The TAC has the power to make its own laws and policies. One example of this was "Definition of Aboriginality" changes they made, effectively slashing the official population down to only 200 or so. This also puts things back in line with British Empire/World history.
(The world only seen and heard about history taken from "round up" camps on Flinders Island mainly. Pictures of fat, well dressed aborigines, who went fishing n that.. History that reports on the "last living" Tasmanian Aboriginals, is likely to be, well unlikely and to a degree, fabricated for "other" reasons)
The TAC is run by members of only 1 tribe, and you guessed it, the ones NOT getting funding anymore, aren't the ones running the Council. In fact, their lines come from the Flinders Island colony and various "sealer" islands.
The other tribe actually lived normal free lives within the state, having little contact with the tribe now running the TAC.
The Tasmanian government say they can't intervene, handballing the matter back to the TAC. As one tribal website said "..we have a situation where the watchdog, is watching the watchdog, watch the watchdog.." hmm.
So anyway, DNA evidence from those return remains would clear up the whole issue. The Australian Federal Government backed the court case against the testing as well as the TAC.
As for information, try http://www.tasmanianaboriginal.com.au/index.htm
And also... just food for thought, did you know that our maps are upside down? North is actually South, and vice-versa. We didn't work it out properly until after maps were written etc.
You can look the facts up, the point is that if you turn the World Map upside down, it changes things... Tasmania's position may actually become important (i.e. Cradle Mountain), as with other places of course too. As I said, just a thought
I have a question though (after all that babble):
 What is unique about keeping the same flame burning over a period of time?
 Could it be a reference, or simply the only conceivable way of having something eternal in nature?
Thanks everyone for your interest, I'd like to just eliminate Tasmania, my home, from any world issues. :)

She died in 1815. It's obvious that in those days non-white people weren't even thought of as fellow human beings. This lady was treared as an exhibit or zoo specimen.

I think this link to Rex Gilroy's website may be of interest to you - plenty of evidence to suggest an advanced civilisation also occupied this area, including Tasmania of course, before the rising waters separated the islands. Links to Java Man (3-4 metres tall?) and to a smaller S-E Asian Lake Mungo man, giant peoples also called Wolumbin... and evidence of stone circle structures, snake symbolism too. Tasmania comes into it. Some of the dates given in rex's claims seem exaggerated, but we should look very carefully at these findings, i feel.
Here is the link

Rex Gilroy has some great information on all types of subjects on his website. I happen to live in the Blue mountains triangle he talks about, but as yet haven't seen a UFO, but a friend of mine has. He has seen a lot of this country (Australia) and talked with some of my friends concerning these topics (Tribal Aborigines) He has a museum in Katoomba which I have been meaning to check out, He has giant bones and skulls, and even talks about a true aboriginal race of giants that were here before the Aboriginals. I believe he calls them the URU, and may or may not be Egyptian in nature.

thats quite interesting oneofmany, there are many legends about races of giants that lived before 'modern' man, offhand i can think of norse mythology and that bit in the bible, do you know if the museum has a website?

That website with the giants and the stones is similar to a website here in New Zealand. There are stones here that line up astrologically and they have even found a very old skeleton of a tall red haired person.
Heres the site if your interested...

also this very interesting piece :
Nothing more was found here until February 1996, when upon a cliffside I found the weathered outlines of a serpent, a cartouche, a human figure holding a serpent, a sun-disc and altar together with letterings which translated thus:
“To this place ships of the Sun-God
arrive. The Serpent-Priest at the altar
of I-a* makes sacrifice.”
[*I-a, the Uruan word for light.]

very.... have a connection to Tasmania myself - roots - a lot of heavy stuff goes down in that Emerald Isle - kinda digging what a couple of you have said about there being something to why this place was singled out - genocide, massive satanic network down there - bigtime - even the Pope and the Queen have visited fairly recently. My time there has always been intense - to put it mildly - I feel a strong connection to the land, and feel that the spirits there are soooo upset - upset is not the word - writing? A real clash of extreme strong energies in this place - perhaps it is very sacred space and this is why it has been the site of so much repeated Illuminati rituals - genocide, staged shooting at Port Arthur - another big ritual killing - I feel that the land and spirits there are in serious need of healing - Like the little Island is almost at war with itself - Remote healing - or people there who can do geomancy, energy work and cleanse the sites of so much bloodshed and suffering. It is a pristine place - but man there are some dark forces down ther...

OMG, you made me shiver...
I've lived in Tasmania all my life, and can honestly relate to that 'feeling'.
I always thought we were safe in Tassie, from the OTO's etc, but you could be so right. There IS something here, a strange energy that I've always felt.
A lot a politicians are being sprung for corruption etc, even our premier had to quit, along with other high ranking members, sent to warm the back benches.
Now is a good time for change.
I mean, a state with 1/2 million people, it's bound to be in our faces. People have told me stories of child abduction (church/politicians), UFO's and certain high level people, living down here in the quiet.
Once whilst looking at the sky, and talking about a 'dodgy' star, we watched it 'shoot' out something, like a meteorite. Too timely, a real feeling of awareness, and obviousness.
Both myself, and this same friend, are haunted by occurrences of the number '1'. We seem locked into it, as if our brains are sync'd to it. Could be just us...
Tasmania is being used by Telstra for example, to justify nation-wide price hikes. They can do this, because of the lack of infrastructure to Tasmania (only 2 fibres owned by Telstra, and 1 unused fibre that nobody can access).
Tasmania is unique, and could very well be at war.
