Its an awful shame that technology is used to the detriment of mankind. Technology+War seem to go hand in hand .

Really cool technology. Also sometimes called matter compilers. Imagine a machine that can make a physical copy of any object; a gold ring, an apple, a Big Mac hamburger...

Unfortenately there is as you say also grave danger with advanced technology. It could easily be used for destructive purposes by the military or by criminal organizations and individuals.

How much advanced technology already exists? Are things like nanobot assemblers already in use within black-op projects? How about AI? What if super-intelligent machines already exist, and also energy technologies such as zero point energy?

If there already is advanced technology like that on the planet, one problem could be how to introduce it onto the public markets because of the risk of misuse for destructive and evil purposes.

Heard that military are 25yrs ahead and drip feeding technology to commercial areas to maximise gains when they are moving on to more advanced tech. Wouldn't that make sense, why would they want to share and give up a strategic advantage. It is evil for sure. Who will give up their pot of gold? or golden egg laying goose?

They have banked on humanity's greed and self serving nature, elitism, and fear of threats, and it seems to have worked? :D

At first I thought that super-advanced technology in the military and in black-op projects sounded too far-fetched. Now I feel that it is perhaps not an overly outrageous idea to believe that very advanced technology exists behind the public scene.

I hope that more advanced technology will be introduced for public use. Imagine being able to fix all the problems with poverty, disease and scarcity in the world!

I agree with you, and think about it every day. Without hope of this, it would be impossible to go on! :p

A world without super-advanced technology could also be good, but technology could make things very easy. Even without black-op technology, mainstream science will maybe be able to achieve things like nanotech, AI and zero point energy.

Well I meant without hope of fixing these problems one could not consider going on, the tech I can take or leave. I believe they will find that perhaps primitive cultures had some knowledge afterall, and were not mere savages, maybe misguided or tricked by visitors into childish compensatory ways of clawing back some power. Propitiation=religion. Artificial Intelligence may be a search to understand our own biological computer and non-local consciousness, nano-tech, well isn't that what complex plants are already doing when they interact with our bodies to create health, they are just trying to explain and in some cases appropriate the wealth we already have on the planet, or recreate what we have lost in ignorance and greed. Zero point energy may be where we go each night when our bodies go into deep sleep to regenerate our cells and re-invigorate our systems. Maybe they are just trying to explain what already exists in a bid to appear to conquer it. Fallacy of ego. Zero point energy might be in a loving gesture to your sick child, when you attempt to comfort it and heal it by pure intention and force of will.

If new tech, divides and enslaves and puts us into fear of our lives, or jealousy guarding a perceived advantage, then is that evolution? A matter of perspective.

It's crucial that technology is used in good ways.

For example, to use nanotech matter compilers to create all kinds of material things like food, water, oil, computers, gold, and even big things like cars and houses.

AI could be used for creating thinking machines and smart robots/androids.

Free energy could be used for fueling all the advanced technology.

Super-advanced technology that can do all the things humans can and much, much more such as cleaning ALL the environment on the planet, healing ALL diseases and all poverty etc etc.

So both hi-tech and nature in top shape.

Ray Kurzweil's predictions are interesting except for his ideas about downloading the mind into computers etc. That's sheer horror. When I take a walk in nature, I don't want any implantable microchip in my brain or any other form of technology bothering me. Technology should be a helpful tool. Not something that enslaves us.
