Doc just called - turns out that I have hepatitis C.
I have never had sex, or been anywhere NEAR syringes/hard drugs (kind of sucks that I'll be associated with junkies from now on...), but got it from a blood transfusion at birth, apparently (born premat.). :/
So anyway: Is it deadly? And is there any treatment for it?
(If the first question sounds stupid, it's because I'm still somewhat shocked and still having thoughts of me dying within 2-5 years from now.)

hep c is to my knowledge only transmitted by blood
so go out and date mate
but use protection anyway :P do not want a and b as well
as it effects the liver so stay away from toxic food additives and alcohol and anything which taxes the liver
also i suggest you get some information on all the types of treatments available before you make any final decisions on how to best treat it
talk to chinese and tibetan doctors talk to acupuncturists talk to chiropractors talk to everyone and go with the treatment that makes the most sense to you
there are herbs and foods which help flush the liver so you may consider what it is you are eating
i have known folks with hep c and they live fairly normal lives

I'm very sorry you have to deal with this disease. My mom just found out she's had it for 30 years from a blood transfusion. She now has liver cirrhosis. Unfortunately, she's opting for some clinical study on a new drug.
My dad's friend, a MD and a DC, recommended intravenous vitamin C. I believe you need 5 or 6 treatments back to back. He claims it will cure Hep C. My mom won't do it because of the cost. My dad is out of work and they don't have insurance; it's pricey but maybe worth it.
In the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing, liquid Kyolic(http://www.kyolic.com/product/category/kyolic-liquid/) is considered essential.
You may want to do a search on Amazon.com for books. They have several on natural healing, diet, and Hep C. I'm ordering my mom a couple in hopes that she will change her mind about being a test subject!
Try not to get down. There are a lot of ways to deal with this horrible disease. I'm so sorry you have to go through all this. If I find out anymore info, I'll post. Please keep us updated!
