Today is the tenth anniversary of one of the biggest mass UFO sightings ever. On the night of the 13th of March 1997, thousands of people in the city of Phoenix, Arizona USA saw a huge formation of mysterious lights cross the sky. They were flying in V-formation like geese. The official story is that these were military flares, but the lights didn't move like flares; they behaved like a powered aircraft.

I remember reading a book about UFO's as a kid, long before the Phoenix lights, and seeing something similar. This shows that the 1997 incident was not the first sighting of this kind. The skeptical analyisis in this book was that these in fact were geese, flying in their usual formation with the city lights reflecting off their whitle underbellies. This seems unlikely, unless the geese were carrying mirrors pointing downwards.

This might have been some kind of experimental aircraft, but its size sugests that it must have been a whole squadron of them. Then again, some people claim to have seen more than just the lights; they saw a distinctive wedge-shaped outline around them.

This was a big event for me because UFOs have always been my favorite conspiracy topic. I still can't make up my mind on whether it was alien or government craft. What do you think?

I suspect this was a staged event, though I don't know the reason for doing it.

The fact that every major news organization carried stories about this event is what makes me suspicious.

And, if it was a triangular or "boomerang" craft, my thought is that it was probably a US military secret aircraft. Rumors of their developing triangular craft have been around since at least the 90's. Supposedly these use a combination of advanced "ET" anti-gravity along with more conventional propulsion systems (because they can't duplicate that part yet).

Real "ET" craft don't need to be triangular or "streamlined" because aerodynamic principles don't come into play with their technology. So, they usually make them circular or cylindrical to maximize energy flow around them. That's my understanding anyway. :)

I've seen mention of a NWO-planned "alien invasion" (staged) at some future point to facilitate their final takeover. Maybe this Phoenix UFO event was intended as a set-up for that? But, that was 10 years ago, so ...? Maybe they changed their plans? Beats me!

I think you answer your own doubt in the final paragraph. If this was staged then the reason is just that: A social psychological experiment. It would be simple to at night with a few planes with lights on. If the Loomies are going to organize a mass alien invasion, either real or staged, then they'll need to have some data on how we'll react so they can do it right. What do you think Independance Day was? they didn't make it so we'd admire the razor-sharp script or Oscar-winning acting!

Good points.

Speaking of invasion movies, don't forget Spielberg's War of the Worlds. That one even showed them coming up from under the ground (unlike the original story). Spielberg has long been rumored to be a player in the "conditioning" of the public regarding the existence of "aliens" and I would have to agree, judging by many of the films he's done. The message of that movie seemed to be: "just go along, don't fight it and everything will be all right."

Those rays that vaporized people and left their clothes may not be too far from reality also. Insiders of the Dulce underground bases talk of a "Flash Gun" that can be set to vaporize any living thing.

And, Spielberg had full cooperation of the US military in making that movie, of course.

"War of the Worlds" always seems to put in an appearance before some big war. The book was written just before the big British imperial wars in Crimea and against the Boers. The infamous radio show came out the year before Pearl Harbour and the first movie was made as the Cold War was. The pattern continues.
