"The Eye in the Sky" its called, look at the base of the sword, above his hand, and you will see this occult/ masonic symbol. I see this all the time.

Here is more info on it

It is also known among the illumananti that 9, not 666 is an important and personal number of Satan, and just who "guides and protects" in Oblivion, the Nine divines. And Akatosh, the Serpent/ Dragon that saves mankind's empire, nothing but satanic subliminal messages, or maybe I'm just crazy.
The nine, the nine, I hear it all the time in Oblivion.

Just to warn those who haven't played all the way through oblivion, I haven't but have witnessed some things while watching others, One such thing i found really astounding was when a character enters into the dark brotherhood, you enter -below a church- to secret underground facility where a door has some strange symbols on it. If you look closely they contain Egyptian themes with a sun disc and worshipers. Not to mention the game contains various races, including cat people and reptilian Draco people.

And don't you think that Uriel Septim looks a lot like David Icke?

If I was making a computer game I would put all kinds of esoterica in it too.

Maybe that's why the game is so boring to a long-time rpg gamer like myself, to appeal to the masses and brainwash them into....Oblivion!

Hahahaha =P

But on a more serious note, yeah of course the game has tons of symbolism in it. Pretty much all respectable rpgs have tons of tie-ins to various esoteric/mythological/ancient/religious ideas. Just look at Whitewolf's "World of Darkness" if you want to see some serious connections, wow...the amount they did in their first version is insane. Which is no doubt why it is so popular, and interesting to me.

Or better yet, Deus Ex. That game straight up has the Illuminati in it, and MJ12. They just cut straight to the chase. Complete with futuristic world government and nanotechnology, what more blatant things do you need? ;)
Though it was(is) a great game.

Games that don't do these things fail. It's because, in my opinion, it talks to the hidden subconscious part of "oneself." So people find themselves liking it and not fully understanding why. OR the person in question does understand what is being set forth and is intrigued by it.

Personally, I'm a bit partial to the Cult of Baa (Sheep) in Might and Magic 6 and 7, but hey... =)

I'd agree that there is much relevant symbolism in Oblivion, the secret apocalyptic 'Mythic Dawn' cult being a good start! The symbol on the sword is called the 'triquetra' by the way, it's very old and has been used by pagan, Celtic and Wiccan traditions amongst others. I tend to interpret it as a symbol of infinity, and possibly three aspects/dimensions thereof; it could also be related to the Christian trinity, or perhaps the trinity is derived from the triquetra!

Could be ultimately derived from here:

... which itself has other interesting properties!
