View Full Version : The Aristocrats
Has anyone seen this horrid film? On the subject of Hollywood Secret Society Members (and their sick jokes based on very sad realities) this film was really disgusting, but at the same time incredibly revealing. Some of the Comedians in it - seemed so cold, malicious and to really be giving off quite evil vibes - it would be interesting to see if any other members here got this from the film, the very arrogant and obvious enjoyment of this twisted little "inside" joke that apparently worms it's way around backstage all across Hollywood. Some really creepy stuff there I thought - and to think people just don't know, don't "get" that it's not really funny at all, and that there is something so sinister behind these "jokes". It was pretty much one of the most blatant things I've ever seen on film - Pretty hard to take, but gives one insight into certain characters and the arrogance they have to laugh to themselves in this way while they feel so assured they have the wool safely pulled over everyone's eyes. Yuck.

no, I have not seen it, it sounds like soemthing I'd be INTERESTED in viewing. Is it available online?
I don't know, you might find it - I got it at the video store, fairly new one in the comedy section, man, it is eye opening. Sickening but it's really indicative of certain mentalities to say the least - Bob Saggett makes a stand out performance, but there are so many...
Hey all - wanted to revive this one - Still curious to see if people saw what I did in it - that is if you've seen the filth.

I haven't seen it, but it's based around an old dirty joke called The Aristocrats. It was said to be Johnny Carson's and Chevy Chase's favorite joke.

It's a subset of the "Shaggy Dog Story" kind of joke. While most Shaggy Dog jokes are clean, this one isn't.
The Shaggy Dog jokes are based around a long-winded story where suspense builds up, then finishing with an anti-climactic punch line. "The Aristocrats" does this, but focuses more on freaking people through shock value, then finishing it up with a harmless and non-offensive punch line.
The Aristocrats joke seeks to shock people through lurid descriptions of taboo, including sexual perversions, murder, racism, etc.
The punch line is based on the idea of the old pre-Revolution French aristocracy who often engaged is sexually perverted activities out of boredom.
