First off, David Icke never asked us to believe in what he has written or said, although I do not believe in Jesus the way he is described in the bible.

Second off, even if people disagree with David Icke, do they not have the right to come here and dispute his claims? Maybe their view can be changed on at least a few of the things David Icke as written about.

David Icke does seem to have learned from previous mistakes and now tell people that they do not have to believe him, just consider what he writes and tell. This said, I have only heard of Icke actually making provable mistakes many years ago, before he began writing books, but I am not sure. I am sure Icke has managed to awaken many people to some of the conspiracies going on though.

I believe in nothing, as I cannot at any stage prove anything. At one point I was asked by a group of school children and their teacher, (after telling them I was nothing, no Christian, Muslim, Jew, Conservative or Socialist etc...) whether I was an existentialist, which I thought was quite a reasonable question for children of 14 years of age. To which I replied I am not even that. They asked me how can you be nothing? To which I replied that I am not anything which has been given to me by somebody else.

No we can sit here all day as have many and say that these wise books have come here by divine inspiration and were written by the hand of wise or inspired men but regardless of what people say, there is no PROOF.

I have investigated these religions, dipped a toe in a few and immersed myself in others waitinng for the Good Word... But I have experienced nothing.

So, therefore I began to read about how the religions came into being and then suddenly it begins to appear that they have a common thread. Entrapment..

Can't have sex with a menstruating women! Pardon!! Can't eat pork! Love it, especially the crackling!! Can't do this and this, can't do that!!!

All the good stuff means eternal damnation but the bad stuff well in your next life it'll be great. In heaven, if you've lead a life of abstinance you'll be given rewards.

Now, here's the thing. No-one , not one person I have met has proved to me that they have been there and come back and that their religion was the ONE to follow.

I spoke to a Catholic the other day and asked them why they follow the religion and their response was, that they needed order in their lives. But when you think about it Islam provides order but maybe that wasn't their cup of tea as they may find it a little stricter. She also said she didn't agree with some of the Catholic church's teaching as she was already divorced and said she didn't agree with the stance on contraception.

But she WAS a Catholic, RIGHT!!!

I wait for the time if it ever does come when God or nothingness reveals itself towards me. And if it dares to question why I didn't believe well I'll have a pretty damn good fucking argument with it over why it played fucking games with humanity when all it needed was just a little more clarity on the subject.

Unsure as to how I'll argue with nothingness though but as ever I'll have a fucking good go..... I can't prove anything, just like everyone else........ But the difference is, I don't claim to have the answer like some people do.........

Thank you pigpot. I have a lot more respect for you now I understand your thinking a bit more. Your right that people should not thro themselves with such conviction into beliefs which offer no proof.
But on a personal level their is nothing wrong with trying different ways of thinking and seeing the world.
Religion offers no proof and I can see that it can do a lot of harm but I also see the positive side, its up to the individual were they take it. If someone wants to call them selves catholic but doesn’t agree with some of the dogma thats fine after all true religion is a personal thing.

How can it be that Jesus contradicts the Old Testament (1 Samuel 21-22), saying that Abiathar gave David the showbread instead of Ahimelech, and saying that David had men with him, when he was actually alone (Mark 2:25-26)? Does the church expect me to rely upon the teachings of a "son of God" who is demonstrably mistaken about what God's Word says?


Why did Jesus, by his own admission, break the Sabbath law (John 5:16-18)?27 This puts the lie to the Christian idea that the perfect Jesus fulfilled the whole Law, and therefore was a suitable unblemished sacrifice for our sins.

Why does the Old Testament teach that there is no hell, while the New Testament teaches that there is? The idea of "progressive revelation" does not explain the conflicts in the biblical texts.

Why did Matthew and Peter take Old Testament passages out of context to make them into prophecies, when they were never indicated to be prophetic by the Old Testament author (Acts 1:20 versus Psalm 69:25, for example)?

Why does Yahweh command genocide,( Number 21:34-35, Joshua 10:40, 1 Samuel 15:3,18, Jeremiah 50:21 for example.) including the killing of infants? Why does he command that all women who have "known a man" be slaughtered, but the soldiers are to keep the young virgins for their own use (Numbers 31:14-18)? Why does the Bible portray Yahweh as worse than Hitler (Deuteronomy 20:16-17)? Isn't it blasphemous to call the Bible "God's Word," when it libels him so?

Proof is an illusion, I have fond much proof and evidence on which I base my beliefs but none that I can share. And I am shore most of the people on this forum have had sum form of conformation or revelation which has supported ore changed ther views most of us have personal proof, but we can not share are proof as others would just have to take are word for it and that’s not proof!
When we really think about what has truly been proven to us we find that we no nothing. I believe that ther in a place called Pakistan next to India but I do not no this I have never been ther, I have met people who say thay have been but thay can not prove it. All I can do is believe in it but I can not no it.
The same is true of everything else how many people have had actual proof that atoms exist all we do is believe thay do!
The only thing that I am sure of is that I exist in this moment everything else I just choose to believe!

These two chapters, both giving genealogies of Jesus, at first appear to be contradictory. Actually, however, they complement each other.

The genealogy in Matthew 1 is clearly that of Joseph, Mary's husband. Matthew records it for legal purposes. He is writing to prove to the Jews that Jesus is the Messiah, and the Jews' custom in keeping records is to trace descent through the father. Legally, the Jews of Jesus' day looked on Jesus as a son of Joseph (John 6:42). Also, Joseph's lineage is given to emphasize the fact that Jesus had been born of a virgin. Because of a curse that God placed on one of Joseph's ancestors, Jesus could never sit upon the throne of David if Joseph had been His natural father.

Jechonias (Matthew 1:11-12), called Coniah in Jeremiah 22:24-30, was so evil God cursed him and his descendants, saying, "Write this man down as childless, . . . for none of his descendants shall prosper, sitting on the throne of David, and ruling anymore in Judah" (verse 30). Jeconiah, as his name is spelled in the Old Testament, had children (I Chronicles 3:17), but he was childless insofar as none of his descendants ruled as king over Judah.

How, then, could Jesus be a descendant of David and qualify to sit on the throne? Enter the genealogy in Luke 3, which is Mary's. According to Jewish usage, Mary's ancestry is given in her husband's name. The original Greek merely says Joseph was "of Heli" or Eli (verse 23). In fact, since Joseph's father is said to be Jacob in Matthew 1:16, Heli is most probably Mary's father. Joseph, then, is his son-in-law.

Unlike Joseph's lineage, there was no block in Mary's genealogy to Jesus sitting on the throne of David. Mary's descent from David comes through his son Nathan, not Solomon or one of David's other children (Luke 3:31). To fulfill His promise to establish David's throne forever, God honored Nathan by making him the ancestor of the promised King who would sit on David's throne throughout eternity (Luke 1:31-33).

But how could Mary transmit David's royal inheritance—the right to the throne—to her Son, since all inheritances had to pass through the male line? According to Israel's law, when a daughter is the only heir, she can inherit her father's possessions and rights if she marries within her own tribe (Numbers 27:1-8; 36:6-8). There is no record that Mary had any brothers to inherit her father's possessions and rights. Thus, Joseph became Heli's heir by marriage to Mary, inheriting the right to rule on David's throne, even over Judah. This right then passed on to Jesus.

Both genealogies had to be recorded to establish Christ's right to rule on David's throne. Joseph's genealogy shows that Christ was a legal descendant of Jeconiah and thus legally could not sit on the throne of David in the nation Judah by inheriting the right solely through Joseph.

Further, the genealogies prove the virgin birth: The curse on Jeconiah's line would have passed on to Christ if He were Joseph's natural son, but He was not—He was the Son of God the Father, begotten by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was Mary's son descended from Nathan. Jesus can inherit rule over Judah because of Mary's marriage to Joseph, whose genealogy shows he was Heli's son-in-law.
