I think this forum's title is misleading...

Satanism, in regards to the Church of Satan founded by Anton LaVey, is a harmless atheistsic society based upon free will and the denouncement of religion, and even Satan himself.

The real sect you should be referring to is Luciferianism, which has nothing to do with Satanism. Luciferianism actually involves the worship of Lucifer. Other left hand paths are also culprits of child abuse, such as the practitioners of Goetia.

I just wanted to put in my two cents. I know several members of Church of Satan (LaVeyanism) who are incredibly nice people, and who would also be incredibly offended to know that people think they abuse children.

Lucifer, is another name for Satan. Lucifer in heaven, became, Satan after he rebelled against God, along with the other Angels, who left God to follow Satan, these rebel angels became the Demons, of Satanism and black magic.

Luciferian conciousness, may be the expression of Evil, in the physical word.

Satanism is a religion they have their Bible, books, teachings, places of worship, communal and other. Priesthoods , levels of initiation and a structure of hiaerachy.

good point, but I think the title of this forum is appropriate given the associations in peoples minds. the term "satanism" btw predates Lavey's church and has always had these associations. It should however be made clear that not everyone who calls themself a "satanist" is involved in these practices. there are "left-hand paths" that do however and all are considered "satanism" by someone some of them by their own practicioners. The Temple of Set, for example, an offshoot of Lavey's church, calls itself the REAL Satanists and its leader has been on trial for such practices. The association is there, and should be discussed. This is the point of this forum. And while I feel it is aptly titled, I am also glad that there those on it who speak up on behalf of those who consider themselves "Satanists" that do not engage in such practices.

I would also like to add that "Luciferians" do like to let the very harmless nature of Laveyanism form a smoke-screen for their own activitys. And that the names Lucifer and Satan have long reffered to the same mythological figure who happens in my book to symbol the Anunaki bloodlines in the role of "Lord Of this World" and decieveing corrupter. I also feel that the use of this symbol tends to invoke their energys wether those who do so mean to or not.

but again, its very good to point out that the Laveyans do not (or most of them do not anyway) practice such horrors. We wouldn't want a witchhunt would we?

I do agree, the tile of the Forum should be changed. Cut out the Child Abuse words. Maybe we'd have more views and a better debate about Satanism. Some people may stay silent and not post in this Forum, for fear of being associated with child abuse. When they may rather post what they know about Satanism.

I think the forum has the right title. This way people post what they know about both, and we can clarify just what the two DO and DO NOT have to do with each other.
