As I'm sure many UK citizens on here are aware the DSS are the people who will give you £40 every two weeks if you are unemployed, which isn't enough to live on but at least it's something.

My younger brother, is a hard worker and worked as a labourer for 7-8 years, until his back caused him to give up the hard work. He was signed off and given incapacity benefit for the first few months, but after that they reduced it to the average dole money.

He has been out of work now for quite some time and every job which he applies for is always given to the immigrant, an immigrant who has been given a house and also food tokens, as well as the dole money. I'm not bitter with the immigrants as they are just trying to get along as we all are. I am bitter with the government though, as I've paid my taxes all my life and I am not allowed a council house, although when i went to the housing office the immigrants who have contributed nothing are given what they want. Anyone in the UK knows this, this post isn't actually about that anyway, i'm just grumbling.

What has happened to my brother is the DSS have stopped his money now for 4 weeks, luckily my mum can just about support him.

I wonder if anyone can help though as the reason they have stopped it to me seem utterly ridiculous.

A few weeks ago, the job centre called him to tell him they have a baggaeg handling open day at Heathrow which they want him to go to. Obviously he agreed and they sent him the details, the day and time he was supposed to attend the open day at Heathrow was the day and time he was due to sign on to continue to receive the benefit. He rang the job centre to let them know the problem and they told him to go to the job centre and sign on, or the benefit will stop.

Now they have stopped it because he didn't go to the heathrow job, he has called them loads of times and they refuse to re-instate the benefits, even though they advised him to sign on and not go to the open day at heathrow.

Does anyone know what he can do or who he can call for advise, it's lucky my mum can just about support him, if she didn't he would be on the street and obviously wouldn't be allowed any free food due to those new draconian laws.
