1984 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony

I came across the closing a video of the closing ceremony for the 1984 Summer Olympics in LA at YouTube. They had a full ten minutes of a "UFO" that was apparently part of the ceremony. It was pretty cool. So, a few days ago, I go back to YouTube to take another look and it's gone. In it's place a simple note saying that it was not in compliance with their agreement...or whatever. Ok, no problem, I go on to look for it elsewhere.

Nothing! One measly little photo and that's all.

I searched for days. I came across many message forums where people are wondering where they can get hold of this footage. What I found so interesting was that even the official Olympic websites made NO mention of this amazing finale.

So, I went to eBay. I bought the official VHS of the 1984 Olympics (the description said it had coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies and one would think that it would surely dedicate a least a couple of minutes to the "UFO"). I got it yesterday. Nothing about the UFO. Not even one second. In the meantime, there's another VHS of the 1984 Olympics, and this time I wrote the seller and asked how much it shows of the "UFO". She wrote me back saying about two minutes. Good enough for me. I bought it, and I'm waiting for it to be delivered.

A few days ago, I contacted the official Olympic Store to see how I can purchase the 4 hour video (this is the one with the 10 minutes' worth of footage of the UFO), and I still have not received a reply. If you are a business or a reporter, etc, you may download this footage directly from them. http://www.otab.com/home/default.sps after jumping through a bunch of hoops first apparently.

So, it started out that I believed it was just a very good show with an excellent prop, but more and more I'm wondering why it's such a big secret. Why is it not mentioned anywhere? Why is it not included in the official descriptions of the games? Why was it removed from YouTube (ok, I understand copyright infringes, but then half the stuff on YouTube should be removed!). I just don't understand how something as stunning as this show could be omitted.

I got the tape and the footage, and I'm going to get it on my hard drive and share it with all of you, and you tell me what you think.

My husband asked me if it was possible that the UFO was suspended from a helicopter. Yeah, anything is possible, but how did they power the super bright lights for more than 10 minutes? (The original clip on YouTube was 10 minutes long).

Also an interesting coincidence is poetry by Pindar just before the UFO appears. Interesting since Arizona Wilder talks about a character named Pindar.

Had trouble taking the footage from the VHS onto the hard drive. We've ordered a new thingie that is supposed to do the trick (no idea what it is), and just waiting for its arrival. I promise I'll have the footage available just as soon as I can.

From the photo that I posted above, would you say the outer ring is connected to the center piece, or is it impossible to tell? My husband and I were discussing the probability of this UFO being attached to a helicopter with some sort of cord. I didn't notice at all that the outer ring was attached to the center piece (maybe it was but I didn't see it), and if it is not attached (separate to inner piece) when it flies over the stadium, the center piece would behave much like the inside of a bell (it would swing inside the outer ring, but it doesn't). So, it's entire construction and light display is pretty cool. Even from what I can see on this photo, if it's only connected in the back, then the front part of the ring would tilt down, right?

So, I'm not saying this is an actual UFO, but it is pretty impressive (especially the 10 minute footage which I am still digging for).

They have an obelisk with a flame burning on top, with the poetry by Pindar. The poem talks about the flame going out and the world is in darkness, and then something about God/god. Quite interesting really. Then the flame goes out, and this character dressed as an alien raises his arms to the sky, and that's when the UFO appears.

I am determined to get my hands on the long version.

So, I continue to search for the 10 minute footage, and one of the places I visited was Amazon, and I type into their search engine "1984 Olympics Los Angeles" (Los Angeles = city of angels by the way....now more and more I'm seeing things tie in), and guess what came up? Another Pindar reference:

OMG it creeped me out quite a bit. "Poetry by a group called Pindar"!!!:eek: It reminded me very much of the Bohemian Grove rituals. Seems to be full of symbolism, especially with the flame etc.

One evening in the summer of 1978 my boyfriend's mother was giving me a ride to a store about 9:30 at night, as the store closed at ten. We were traveling from Lake Elsinore to Perris on highway 74. From certain areas on Highway 74 you can see the jets at March Air Force Base take off and leave. When I had a home right on the highway(Meadowbrook) we would watch the jets take off and land all night. The roar from the jets was thunderous. On this night we were at that area where March Air Force Base was very clear to us, and suddenly my boyfriend's mom, Mary, says "Do you see what I see" and I really did. There it was as real as the chair that I am sitting on, It was saucer(disc)shaped, with red, yellow, blue, and green lights in the windows, which circled the craft. The windows looked like they were lit from the inside, and they were flashing,interchanging lights. The craft was hovering in front of one of the AIR FORCE JETS, staying in front of it, moving back and forth in front of the jets window, for as long as we could see it. It was the most amazing sight that I have ever seen. I know that the jet pilot saw it also. And not to mention the people at the base. It is just amazing to me that no one else reported it. The third amazing thing is the fact that I saw an identical craft six years later. I was watching the 1984 CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE LOS ANGELES OLYMPIC GAMES when to my surprize they landed an UFO in the Los Angeles COLESEUM. And it was identical to the craft that I saw at March Air Force Base six years earlier. You can imagine the questions that fill my head. Who built the craft at the Olympics? Where did they store it? Did they ever test run it? What is it capable of? I personally think that they modeled the craft after sightings, rather than that being the same craft, because the one I saw could maintain its position in front of a jet as it was taking off, or landing. I'm not sure which it was doing, coming or going, but I could tell the UFO seemed to be taunting the jet. ! No trai l or sound could be heard, except for the jet sounds. From where we were positioned we could not see any beings inside the craft. I wish the pilots,like the one in the jet that night in 1978, would begin to speak about what they have seen. Yes, it's a terrestrial UFO. Of that I'm sure. But what's interesting is that if it IS powered by jetfuel and is flying by itself (and apparently landed on the field - footage missing) then why haven't we known about this before? It was very quiet for a jet engine craft.

Yes, suspension is possible, but I'm not sure that we wouldn't have heard a copter that is capable of lifting 2 tons. Would have to be a massive copter. Also, I find it interesting that a copter could bring it to a dead halt without some kind of swing.

I cant help but feel sinister overtones with how the aliens were presented, as for the technology, well what can I say, surely there is a manufacturer who was involved in building the "model" for the Olympics? surely someone at Olympics HQ would be able to find that out? woo what a mystery.

Also in the video the commentators say the spaceship was designed by Bob Gurr and it uses jet fuel to propel it.
Bob Gurr, if that is how he spells it, works/worked for Disney as a ride designer and from that it is highly likely he made this also.
