It sounds like you have restless leg syndrome.

Restless leg syndrome is a disorder in which there is an urge or need to move the legs to stop unpleasant sensations.
Symptoms

RLS leads to sensations in the lower legs that make you uncomfortable unless you move your legs. These sensations:

* Usually occur at night when you lie down, or sometimes during the day when you sit for long periods of time
* May be described as creeping, crawling, aching, pulling, searing, tingling, bubbling, or crawling
* May last for 1 hour or longer
* Sometimes also occur in the upper leg, feet, or arms

You will feel an irresistible urge to walk or move your legs, which almost always relieves the discomfort.

Most patients have rhythmic leg movements during sleep hours, called periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD).

All of these symptoms often disturb sleep. Symptoms can make it difficult to sit during air or car travel, or through classes or meetings.

Note: Symptoms may be worse during stress or emotional upset.
Treatment

There is no known cure for restless leg syndrome.

Treatment is aimed at reducing stress and helping the muscles relax. The following techniques may help:

* Warm baths
* Gentle stretching exercises
* Massage

Low doses of pramipexole or ropinirole (Requip) can be very effective at controlling symptoms in some people.

If your sleep is severely disrupted, your health care provider may prescribe medications such as Sinemet (an anti-Parkinson's medication), gabapentin and pregabalin, or tranquilizers such as clonazepam. However, these medications may cause daytime sleepiness.

Patients with iron deficiency will receive iron supplements.

Low doses of narcotics may sometimes relieve symptoms of restless leg syndrome.
Causes

Restless leg syndrome (RLS) occurs most often in middle-aged and older adults. Stress makes it worse. The cause is not known in most patients.

RLS may occur more often in patients with:

* Peripheral neuropathy
* Chronic kidney disease
* Parkinson's disease
* Pregnancy
* Iron deficiency
* Use of certain medications

I had it as a child and it has stayed with me all of my life until a few years ago. I found that taking an aspirin or 2 about an hour before bed can help. I believe it comes from excess energy (electrical) in the legs not having a p[alce to go. If I had it to do over again I think as a child I would have pictured the enrgy going down out of my legs into the ground, after awhile that might have helped.

My wife often has Restless Legs.
The only thing that helps her is me massaging them for about 15 mins.
If you have someone to do it for you start at the buttocks :) and work slowly down each leg in turn, don't forget the feet. At the base of each toe (on the underside) are very effective accupressure points and if you can understand where these are it can be very beneficial.

To me it sounds like your energy is trying ground out. Try being mindfull of your energy connecting to the earth during your daily activities.

i have had restlesslegs for some time in the past and i find it more an upwards energy than a downwards one. I 've noticed that it is related to a blockage in your 2chakra.
(as most westerners have a blockage there, it's cultural).

Smoking some weed releases tensions and gets the energy flowing again. what obviously will result in 'rested' legs.:p

and when you really want to get rid of the restless legs. you could work on your blockage while smoking weed. It makes the connection with your true self a lot easier.
so it really is a short and long term solution.

hope it helps,
kees

Chinese medicine may be able to help, it sounds like a Liver-blood or yin deficiency generating wind, sounds strange I know but if you want to try the natural approach at resolving this I'd suggest Chinese acupuncture or herbs.

i think you are spot on there ufochick. i usually get it mildly in the mornings and it really does feel like an energetic thing as if you are somehow not grounded at all.

last night i tried a couple of nytol to help me sleep and they did the exact opposite. gave me the worst restless leg syndrome ive ever had. i would normally say that it is from not being relaxed enough however it was odd last night as it actually started to get better once i had got realy angry at having my sleep disturbed :confused:

anyway im never trying nytol again. i had to keep slightly moving my legs to even get near sleep and the things that helped the most was curling your toes as if you are trying to earth them to the ground. its got me thinking what the underlying cause really is because it must be terrible for people who get this often. normally when i wake up i will have to roll over occassionally but last night even before sleep i had to move every 30 seconds. could it be linked to poor circulation somehow?

I also used to get this a lot as a child, thankfully I never needed meds and now I only get it occasionally, as well as this I also get really hot feet too. I think you have Rh neg blood, is that right ufochick? Just wondered if it could be blood related?

I have had restless legs since i was a child. I used to run cold water over them in the bath and that helped a little but i have now discovered a brilliant remedy.
I looked up restless legs on a site called earth clinic and for the last 6 months have been putting a bar of ordinary soap under my bedsheet at the bottom of my bed. Im not joking it really works.....when ive forgotten to do it when visiting or on holiday ive had terrible restless legs. Just try it....:)

I personally think restless leg is related to a nutritional deficiency of some kind. I suffered with this problem for years back when I ate a poor diet but since going vegan (now vegetarian) it doesn't happen at all anymore.

Maybe try drinking green smoothies and fresh veggie juices every day like I do. Flood your body with lots of nutrition and see what happens. Even if it doesn't help the restless leg I guarantee your health will improve in other ways.

Have you looked into Lyme? Restless leg is one of the symptoms worth checking just in case.

I never was a fan of veggies and suffered from restless legs at night. Since adding raw foods/nutrients via, spirulina, fruits and superfruits, hemp protein, maca and more to my diet via smoothies (which taste AWESOME) I haven't suffered for years.

Restless leg syndrome (RLS) occurs most often in middle-aged and older adults. Stress makes it worse. The cause is not known in most patients.

RLS may occur more often in patients with:

* Peripheral neuropathy
* Chronic kidney disease
* Parkinson's disease
* Pregnancy
* Iron deficiency
* Use of certain medications

The cause is Morgellons fibres. Get yourself detoxed from them.

My Dad had/has RLS, and also has sores that don't heal. I don't see them often because he wears long shirts and pants all the time ... to cover/hide them?

Interesting that Peripheral Neuropathy is included in that list. I had Type 2 Diabetes from 2005-2011, which symptoms included feet that are tingling and slightly less feeling in the them, esp. the left foot. I am realizing that to cure it meant that I needed to supplement my Magnesium via Spring Water, Mag. Supps. and Epsom Salt baths.

Same thing with Chronic Kidney Disease ... fixed with supp'ing with Mag.

Yoga, or Tai Chi may also help.
Meditation very beneficial.
