Oddly enough as it's my profession I don't listen to music, nor do I own an ipod or hi-fi. I do though own many guitars and if I do feel like music I'll sit down with a guitar and play or maybe write as song.

So short answer who do I listen to? Me.:)

Gahh, I'm into soooo many different genre's of music, a lot of them are opposing, but I don't care as I've become a lot more open-minded about music as I've gotten older ^_~
Anyway these are the current genre's that I'm listening to, and DJ'ing with:

Psy-Trance, Industrial, Gothic, EBM, Synthpop, Darkwave, Hardcore-Techno, Speedcore, Hard-Style, Old-skool Rave, Ambient, Dark-Ambient, Medieval, Jpop, Jrock, Visual-kei, Acid, Acid-Techno, Mid 90's Hard-Trance.

There's more but I think they are the main ones :P

LOL I like both types of music heavy and light.
A bit of rock then a bit of folk.
But none of that death metal shit! or overly synthesised computerised music with drum machines which drown out the singing or the music.

I was feeling a little fractious today, and in a timely manner (as so often happens to me these days), a friend sent me a video link to a piece of music called Mi Mancherai, sung by a young guy called Josh Groban. Now this type of music is nothing like what I would normally listen to, but my intuition told me ‘this will do you good’, so I played the video clip and found the frequencies of the music very soothing on my nerves, in fact I calmed down almost immediately and remained peaceful for the rest of the day!

I've decided to post the link here so others may benefit

Also, Aphex Twin, KLF (also known as the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu), some of the better Hip Hop that's around (ie nothing that gets played on normal radio), hardcore/rave/acid from the late 80's and early 90's. Techno from the late 70's to present day.

I also like a bit of Radio 4.

I'm listening to a band called Cog, and their album, The New Normal. These guys songs are about reality, taking mind altering drugs, and what's down the rabbit hole. These guys are consciousness seekers, from Australia and are getting big. I saw them a while back as the undercard of Spiderbait and I think that I was the only guy in the room (except for the band) who was understanding what the songs were about.

Brilliant Live, check out their site here http://www.cog.com.au/cog.html

I guess the record company's getting a little uppity. What do you expect? They're FRENCH! LOL!

I have a degree in French. A Bachelor of Arts, specifically. And I can only make out about half of what she sings. Not because she's too fast, but because my French has pitiably degraded in the 14 years since I had any amount of practice. :(

I should have said; according to Cathy O'brien and Mark Phillips (just type them in on google vid), and a few others. Nashville has been in the spotlight concerning drug issues as well. The whole country music scene stinks (no offence if you like that music).

JJJ play all the things you won't hear on a real commercial radio station. Just be thankful that you don't live in the US of A. You would be listening to Whitney and Brittany on every station you listened to, all the stations are owned by the same group. Be thankful that the jjj's are owned by the ABC

The Allman Brothers Blues band, if you can find the instrumental stuff( lot's of different versions live etc hard to find) by these guys who wore cowboy hats lol you may like it father. The bands trade mark was weed and mushrooms.

Duane Allman(Slide guitar blues instrumental)
Allman Brothers(Mountain jam) full lenght version 33 mins has a drum solo two drummers in the middle of the song lasts abot 15 mins lol.

Rap music is designed and used to make people aggresive these days in the Uk.
Based on crack cocaine, gangs viloence etc, the kids here follow this and try to act like the rappers.
I don't consider Rap to be a form of music personally, its all done on computers, they don't play any musical insturments... maybe sample other peoples bass lines ans drums(like John Bonham for one)

Rap=Rep=used to stimulate the reptilain part of the brain, rap is the new rock.

You should check out some of the video links I've mentioned earlier in this thread, some real classics :).

As to FSOL, when I listen to the version of the 'Vit Drowning' MP3 I've got from the Dead Cities album, the tune seems to stop with over 2 minutes left to play and if you leave it playing, there's a 'bonus track' I guess you could call it.

It's got some mental heavy metal guitar and a voice screaming "three sixes" all mashed up as only FSOL can do. Very trippy. ;)

... it's called 'the news' .... i used to ask the same question to my father when i was small... 'why don't the news casters cry when they read out the news?'

'the news' is a quite beautiful song :)

At the moment my girlfriend and I are really digging;

Baka Beyond - Spirit Of The Forest

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGUvkyfnzc8

Really beautiful sounds.

In my car I currently have RATM's eponymous, digging 'know your enemy' most from it nowadays.

Also like some Mason Jennings and G.Love and Special Sauce stuff.
