There speaks someone who knows Miles! :D I've got a lot of his stuff, dating back from Birth Of The Cool, Kind of Blue period, the stuff with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter et al, On The Corner, Amandla.

I first heard this when I was doing a music degree back in the 90s. A mate of mine on another course was well into Miles and lent me the Pangaea album. I instantly connected with it. Had it been a few years earlier, I might have completely dismissed it. I remember the first time I heard Bitches Brew and I was like "naaaaaah, come on!!" I'd read about how legendary it was and I just didn't get it. I was listening to Tutu, a lot of his 50s and 60s stuff which I DID like.

About three years later I went back to Bitches Brew and suddenly I heard it!! I could hear the melodies, the grooves, the mood. I think just before that I'd heard Shh Peaceful from Silent Way. Miles has this way of being able to play a note that might sound 'out' but because of his tone and way of phrasing it sounds like the most obvious thing to play!

Yes, I'm a big fan of Miles. :)
