David Icke wins Adams legal case to secure control of his books
After three extraordinarily challenging years the legal case against Royal Adams that took us to the brink of losing everything has come to an end.
Because of the nature of the final agreement there is a limited amount I can say about what happened, but most of it is laid out in some detail in the official judgement included here. The judgement was made last month, but for legal reasons we have had to wait until now for confirmation that the case is over in its entirety.
There have been many ironies in this story. One is that Royal Adams is now serving a Federal prison sentence in a separate case and another is that Bookworld, the distributor used by Royal Adams, has gone out of business because they could not meet legal bills for actions by clients taken against them. The term 'karma' comes to mind given the three years of monthly legal bills I have incurred because Bookworld would not voluntarily release sales figures to me to prove my case against Adams.
The United States legal system works painfully slowly and it is easy to see why innocent people are destroyed by the weight of legal costs as it grinds on for year after year, even in cases like this one where the situation was so blatantly obvious.
The outcome, however, is that we now start life in 2009 without the monthly legal bills that have bled us dry, or at least soon we will, but we still face a long period of getting everything back financially as it should be. The $100,000 in the 'escrow' account that is mentioned in the judgement is not new money to us because it will all go to repaying funds we had to borrow from tax accounts etc. to pay legal bills.
People all over the world have been fantastic in their support for the legal defence fund and we cannot thank them enough. Just know that my work is still circulating today because of you. But the donations did not cover all the costs and we had to take from monies due to pay future tax bills to keep us going.
I also went about three years without receiving a penny from the sales of any of my books or DVDs worldwide - all the income that should have come to me went for legal costs and paying the costs essential to keep the books in circulation.
Perhaps the breathtaking nonsense about me only doing what I do for the money will now stop, but I doubt it. Those who do nothing will always have a need to attack those who do something - to ease their own conscience about doing nothing.
Yet another irony: what happened with regard to Royal Adams was only possible because my focus through those years was not on money, but on researching ever more information and communicating it as widely as I could. Had my focus been on money what happened would not have happened.
Anyway, this is the judgement. Thank-you once again for all your support.
