The Conservative Shadow Foreign Secretary on David Icke's ban from the Davis-Geldof meeting
William Hague: I believe in freedom - but only my own
'I work in ... Cottingham and today, 7th July 2008, Willam Hague walked in and
introduced himself to me. I was taken aback and said I did not live in this
constituency. He said it did not matter and made polite conversation.
I then got someone to take over the shop and followed him into a baker's shop
and asked one of his party if I could ask him a question.
I said to him: "I went
to a talk yesterday given by David Icke and he said he had gone to the Guildhall
last week and tried to get into a talk given by Bob Geldof and David Davis and
he was turned away, even though it was open to the public and he had a ticket".
He said "Well he would probably have wanted to make a speech" and then turned
away from me!
