This is a communication sent by the Common Purpose
'Online Director' to a poster on the Asthma Care Ireland blog, who had
outlined her misgivings about the organisation. In
fact, what is said in the reply is not strictly accurate in that it was a man called Brian
Gerrish who deserves the credit for initially exposing his experience of
Common Purpose.
Hi ....,
I recently came across a comment attributed to you on the
Asthma Care Ireland blog. It's here (http://www.asthmacare.ie/blog/?p=189) and it says: " Something
very sinister called Common
Purpose has now infiltrated every institution in Europe to
prepare people for membership of the European Union."
Unfortunately, it seems you have been reading posts made in
a hate campaign conducted against the organisation (initiated by the BNP and
David Icke who seem to take a dim view of any kind of professional development)
along the lines that we are part of some European conspiracy.
This is totally unsubstantiated and upsetting because such
political bias is utterly contrary to our vision and mission statement. We have
never (and will never) express or encourage any political campaign - we are a
not-for-profit training and development organisation that provides programmes
designed to facilitate cross-sector experiential learning.
We have only ever seen fringe groups and conspiracy theory
sites being influenced by these claims so I am distraught to see a
well-intentioned service like yours repeating these accusations.
Normally I would simply ignore such comments but when they
are repeated often enough, unsubstantiated and untrue they be, they begin to
attain the status of "fact". So I would really appreciate a retraction of this
comment, if you could.
We have set up a page addressing these concerns directly
here (http://www.commonpurpose.net/) and do please contact me
directly if you'd like confirmation of the facts.
Best,
