Bush: US must ensure Israel's security

‘In a remarkable show of support for one of America's most important Jewish organizations, US President George W. Bush, German Chancellor Andrea Merkel and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan attended a gala event marking the centennial of the American Jewish Committee (AJC). Bush vowed to maintain the strong ties between the US and Israel. "America's commitment to Israel's security is strong, enduring and unshakable," Bush said.
The president said his thoughts and prayers were with former prime minister [and mass murderer] Ariel Sharon, whom he called "a man of courage, and a man of peace."'
