Goldman Sachs (Rothschilds) control CanWest media corporation

'U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs is “betting” on the ability of CanWest Global Communications Corp. to grow the television assets acquired in the takeover of Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc., but federal regulators are skeptical the bankers want nothing in return — and can not exert control over the business.

Konrad von Finckenstein, chairman of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, said arguments by CanWest that Goldman would not have a veto over some key decisions “are of no comfort” to him, based on the wording of the deal.'
