ICC Gives Congolese Warlord 14-Year Sentence for Using Child Soldiers

'On Tuesday, the ICC handed down its first-ever sentence to the former militia chief, who was found guilty by the court in March of recruiting, abducting, and abusing children below the age of 15 in the mineral-rich Ituri region of northeastern Congo in 2002 and 2003, the Associated Press reported.

The 51-year-old Lubanga, who has been incarcerated in The Hague since March 2006, showed no emotion as his sentence was read out. He will be out of prison before he turns 60, as the time he has served in prison since his arrest in March 2006 will be deducted from the sentence, presiding judge Adrian Fulford said.'
