Banks Inquiry Could Threaten Later Trials, Warns Dominic Grieve

'The Labour leadership has announced it will vote against the Prime Minister’s plan is for a parliamentary inquiry into the Libor rate fixing activities at Barclays in the Commons tonight.
Mr Cameron has said he wants a joint committee of MPs and peers to investigate the scandal so that they can make recommendations for reform by January. He has rejected Labour’s demand for a full, independent, judge-led public inquiry because he believes it will take years to conclude, preventing urgent reforms from being introduced.
However, the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve, the government’s senior law officer, warned that a speedy investigation would potentially threaten to prejudice a criminal trial.'
