Controversial Plan to Stop Striking Workers Receiving Tax Credits

'Workers who strike will lose tax credits – saving the taxpayer tens of thousands of pounds – under plans unveiled last night.
Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith said he was ending the ‘perverse’ situation where strikers’ income is topped up by Working Tax Credit (WTC) after they go on strike. They are entitled to claim the credit, targeted at people on low incomes, for their first ten days on strike.'
