UK Doctor Found Guilty of Dishonest Conduct in Iraqi Civilian’s Death

'On Saturday, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) ruled that Derek Keilloh was guilty of dishonest conduct in 2003, when 26-year-old hotel receptionist Baha Mousa died after being arrested in Basra, the Guardian reported.

Mousa was hooded with a sandbag for 24 hours, sustained 93 separate injuries including fractured ribs and a broken nose during the final 36 hours of his life in the custody of the 1st Battalion, Queen's Lancashire Regiment.

The MPTS noted that Keilloh, then a 28-year-old regimental medical officer, was called to a detention center at the British Army HQ in Basra in September 2003 where the Iraqi hotel receptionist was unconscious after a violent incident with soldiers.'
